Fergie’s Foam

This house was originally used as a residence for the 9th premier of Ontario, George Howard Ferguson.

His government held a referendum during the prohibition era, which re-allowed the sale of alcohol beverages with content no more than around 2%.

Those 2% “beer” would later be known as “Fergie’s Foam”. After the death of Fergie’s wife, it was used a music library.

At the time it was built, Avenue Road was still a residential street with huge mansions. A stark contrast compared to now, it is the only one left on Avenue Road in that area.

The house is currently used by the Consulate of South Korea.
